Set forms:Film industry examples

Deadpool is a mainstream film that belongs in the Marvel universe. The main character is Deadpool. He is the hero of the movie, though not a stereotypical action hero. There is a villain in the movie who is a stereotypical villain. This film has the fundamentals of an independent film although it is mainstream. The narrative is pretty simple, but in a way that is almost sarcastically simple. The film had a budget of 58 million dollars, which could be seen with the special effects and CGI that was used throughout the movie. Deadpool's costume is a very simple design, but other aspects of the film were not. The film belongs in the action genre. Most of the audience were teenage boys, which was definitely the audience that Marvel were targeting. Marvel, of course, already have a very large existing audience which was a huge positive for them for the marketing of the film. A soundtrack was released which featured artists such as DMX and George Michael.  Ryan Reynolds was already a big star before the movie, and they got a few of the X-men actors in, but generally, the budget was too small to get a lot of star power in, which the film actually joked about itself. Reynolds did a lot of interviews and press before the film's release. The pace was very fast throughout the movie since most Marvel fans have a very short attention span.

Fish Tank is an independent film which was directed by Andrea Arnold and released in 2009. The characters are very complex and realistic. The main character, Mia, is a 15 year old girl who has a terrible life and lives on a terrible estate. Without a doubt, the main theme of the film is social realism. The narrative is very good as it is complex and not clear throughout the whole movie.  The budget was very low at just 3 million USD. There was limited release for the movie as it did not come out in most of the big cinemas around the country, and barely at all in the USA. The director's creative signature was definitely visible here, with previous short films including Wasp setting a very similar tone and potentially even part of the same universe.

The Bridge season 1, 2 and 3 analysis (s3 ep1)

In season 1 and 2 of The Bridge, there is a lot of character building and it sets the tone for the rest of the series. Many conventions that are in ep1 of season 1 remain the same in season 3. For example, one of the most noticeable things straight away is the eeriness of the music. This also compliments the dark lighting that is essentially used throughout the whole show. It makes the show feel very dark. For example, in season 3 episode 1, there is a scene where the lighting in the flaming is all dark, but in the corner of the screen there is blue from a police car bleeding into the frame. The main character of the show, Saga, is a female detective who is very straight to the point. It is suggested that she has autism, though not explicitly mentioned.  In season 1, this is contrasted with the Danish male detective who seems to have more empathy and social skills.  In season 3, Saga is contrasted with the female Danish detective who seems to be more confident with dealing wit...

Radio overview

Different radio stations suit different audiences. For example, Kerrang is aimed at both young teens who like punk music, and people who listened to that in their teen days. An example of all this the BBC. They are funded by TV licence which is paid for by the audience. Commercial radio is radio that has commercials and runs themselves. An example of this is UK Rock. Their only worry is to stay alive and entertain their audience. Public service radio has somewhat of a duty to fulfil as they are run by the government. The BBC is an example of this. They cannot be politically biased, although many people would argue that they are. Some radio shows have strips which are essentially specific time slots for certain shows, so people know when they are on. BBC Radio 1 BBC Radio 1 is aimed at younger people. It features many songs in the pop or rap genre which would be considered 'trendy'. Radio 1 features many segments such as live lounge, where artists perform ...

Imagine Dragons Music Video write up

Imagine Dragons are a popular American Indie-Rock band who have excelled greatly since 2011. They consist of four members including 30 year old, Dan Reynolds, who is the main vocalist. The band won record of the year in 2014 for their single, Radioactive. Since then, their success has continued and they have 25 million singles in 2017. One of the band's main music videos is for their song 'On Top of the World'. It uses both narrative and thematic settings throughout the video. It is made satirical by exploiting American conspiracy theories. There is a large scene in the video in which it shows the moon landing to be fake in a comedic style. The video also shows diversity and a togetherness of the community by using different social classes and different cultures as the astronauts who 'go to space'. However, it is a little bit contradictory as all of them are white males. However, in terms of culture, there are clear binary opposites amongst the star vehicles. ...
